You have an exciting book idea and a completed outline—that’s already a big accomplishment. But you might be wondering if you’ve hit all your marks. Maybe you had to rewrite your last manuscript because there were too many characters or the conflict should’ve begun earlier. In this early form of edit, I’ll review your outline and give you a written evaluation that will help you move forward with confidence. Think of it as story coaching lite. This includes an optional one-hour coaching call. $150 for 50–75K words.
Outline Evaluation
In a developmental edit, I’ll look at your manuscript as a whole—focusing on big things like story arc, conflict/tension, transitions, character development, POV, and setting. During this process I look for gaps, inconsistencies, distracting prose, structural concerns, and anything else that needs attention. You’ll receive a written editorial evaluation and my specific comments and recommendations on the manuscript itself. Includes an optional one-hour coaching call. $.o3 per word.
Developmental Editing
A manuscript evaluation is a generalized version of a developmental edit. Story line, character development, POV, conflict/tension, gaps, inconsistencies, and structure are addressed in a written evaluation. This well-organized summary will help you fine-tune trouble spots and sort out larger concerns before the next edit begins. Includes an optional thirty-minute coaching call. $.015 per word.
Manuscript Evaluation
Line editing is concerned with style, consistency, clarity, voice, organization, flow, and pace on the sentence and paragraph level. Basic grammar is not the focus. Includes three follow-up emails for questions and clarifications. $.02 per word.
Line Editing
Copyediting focuses on grammar: spelling, punctuation, hyphenation, phrasing, word choice, and sentence structure. I’ll point out overused words, awkward sentences, and unclear syntax. Includes three follow-up emails for questions and clarifications. $.02 per word. Combination line edit and copyedit $.03 per word.
